How to make money with Google Adsense

Google Adsense is the most advanced advertising company in the world. It is used on thousands of websites. REMEMBER: Do not get confused between Adwords and Adsense. These are completely different things. They are 2 different sides of Google Ads. Adwords is for advertisers and you will be paying money, and Adsense is for publishers and you will be making money.

Here is the non-referral link to Adsense for publishers: http://adsense.com/

Adsense for Content, Adsense for Search, Referrals, Video units, Adsense for Mobile Content

One of the best parts of Adsense is that is is extremely easy to retrieve ad code and put it on your site. You will be displaying ads in a matter of minutes and can start making money instantly.

There are many different types of ads, so you don’t have to put hundreds of text-advertising on your website, cluttering it up - instead, you can create user friendly ways of showing ads (sometimes without them even knowing it)! Firstly I am going to go into detail about what they all mean, how to use them, and then I will explain how to make money with them.

1). Adsense for Content

Adsense for Content is the normal advertising you see on websites. Although it is named “Adsense for Content”, you don’t just have to have it in the middle of text. It is also for vertical and horizontal navigation bars. Once you have logged in to your Adsense account you can see that a page of information displaying your current Adsense earnings is displayed. There is simple information so you can see an overview of your account, although you can go in to much more detail later. If you want to view more images and information on Adsense, then see the Adsense review. I have included pictures of the account overview, and also in-depth information. This article is on HOW to make MONEY using Adsense.

2). Adsense for Search

Adsense for search is basically a custom Google search engine you have made, where you get a % of whatever Google make from the ads. It’s just like displaying ads on your website, but you can also use it as a search bar, and a way of making money without cluttering up your web page. You can make pages of a higher priority and therefore pages that you choose will appear higher in your own customized search engine.

3). Referrals

On the image I posted it shows the following message:
Note: Referrals will be removed during the last week of August 2008.
Unless you are in North America, Latin America, or Japan, you will not be able to use referrals for much longer! If you look at this Google post on Blogspot, you can see that they will be stopping referrals and reducing the amount of money you earn. I won’t bother saying how to make money with Adsense referrals because you won’t have time to implement any methods.

4). Video units

You get paid $0.15 every time someone watches a video. If you can get videos on the bottom of your pages which are related to your content (which is extremely easy), then this is a potential for massive money. Seeing as 100 MILLION videos are watched on YouTube every day, one someone has viewed your content there is a high chance they will want to watch a video.

5). Adsense for Mobile Content

I am not going to go into any details on this, because it is simply ads for people who are viewing your website on their phone, therefore it is not a higher money making potential than normal ads (so you can follow that tutorial).

How to make money using Google Adsense for Content

Adsense for content is advertising links or banners displayed vertically, horizontally or square boxes in the middle of text.

To make money you need to first go into Adsense account and press “Get Ads”. You need to customize them in one of 3 different ways:

Google ads are PPC, meaning Pay Per Click. If you get 10,000 people on your website a day, and no-one clicks on them, then you will get no money. Although this won’t happen, because Google scans your page and displays ads of relevant content, the theory means that the more people that come on the website, the more clicks you will get on your ads, and the more money you will make.

There are of course, exceptions. Traffic which are not looking for the information you have will not click on the ads, and the target audience of your website (this is the people who you are writing your information for. They are “targets” because they have different variables for different information, e.g. age, gender, interests. E.g. Golf products are most likely targeted at males ages 20-60).

The principle idea of more traffic = more money is becuase of the CTR (Click Through Rate, which is a %). This is the amount of people that enter your site, compared to the amount of people that click on ads. The following calculation is your CTR:

Visitors (1 day) ÷ Times ads are clicked (1 day) = CTR

Here is an example of the calculation:

1000 unique visitors go on the website ÷ 100 ads clicked = 10%

10% is excellent. A good target is 5%. It sound quite bad but Google Ads normally pay a lot, so you will make quite a bit of money. To make money using Google Adsense you need to increase the amount of clicks on your ads (CTR).

To do this you must customize your ads so more people will click on them.

How to make money using Adsense for Search

It’s a pretty simple idea that if you get visitors to click on Google’s search ads they give you a cut. It won’t make anywhere as near as much money as if you have it inside your content, because someone has to search. The only part of Adsense for Search which is better that there is a higher CTR if the ads have the exact keyphrase of the search, there is more chance that they will be clicked.

So why should I use Adsense for Search?

This is a common question, but if you don’t want ads, then you can use this as an alternate method. -OR-

You could have this as well as ads! Instead of downloading/creating a software script to search your website, you can use Google and make money at the same time, because of the new Custom Search technology…

Google custom search is where you can choose the sites that your customized search displays results of, but you can also prioritize websites. You can change the colour schemes and do much more. Here is the link to Adsense (no referral).

Video Units

One of the latest and most amazing ways of making money! Because Google now owns yet another popular site, YouTube, you can get paid to display videos! You get paid $0.15 if someone watches a video on your website. Sounds crap, but…

The video’s arn’t autoplay, but best of all:

THE CONTENT IS RELATED TO YOUR WEBSITE!

Just like Adsense for Content, the Video Units are displayed once Google searches your site for keywords and displays relavent ads/videos. This means there is a high chance that people will view a video. If you can get enough people to view, think about how much you can make:

100 × $0.15 = $15

If you got 1000 hits on your page a day, and the video CTR was 10%, 100 people would view a video. This would make $15 a day! Which is the same as $105/week, $420/month or $5460/year!

So the saying “Every little helps…” is actually true in this case. Remember, 1000 hits a day is easier than you think. The CTR of videos is extremely high on my on of my websites which has a small target audience.

Adsense for Mobile Content

This is the same as Adsense for Content, although I am not using this on any of my sites, purely becuase they have no relavence to mobile content. I was going to post an article from another blog or website, but I can’t find one. Adsense for Mobile Content isn’t that popular so I wouldn’t bother!

Well, those are the different ways. Of course, there is Adsense optimization for higher CTR, etc. etc. and a new website called SimpleHonestInfo gives away ABSOLUTELY FREEhigh quality ebooks! They are worth hundreds of dollars but I’m giving them away!
